Electrophysiology study is a testing to evaluate heart’s electrical activity and study different pathways of the heart. This is done to evaluate abnormal heart rhythm conditions and to treat them. Most of the common rhythm conditions can be studied this way and can be treated with a procedure called radiofrequency ablation. Many of these ablation procedures can be done as outpatient while some are more complex that would require a brief hospital stay.
