Peripheral Vascular Disease Intervention

Peripheral vascular disease (blockage of lower or upper extremity vessels) can be present in patients with coronary artery disease. They can cause significant limitation in day to day activities by causing pain and discomfort in the arms or legs. If the patient is having significant symptoms, the physician will be able to open this blockage with a balloon and stent and improve blood flow. This is mostly an out- patient procedure and most of the patients should be able to go home on the same day.
